Well he was originally a writer and bit player on Saturday Night Live, as was Tom Davis who he costars with. This movie is filed with SNL alumni. Jim Belushi had started his run on SNL that year.

He doesn't do that. It was Beeks who did that. And Al was in this alongside his comedy partner at the time, the late Tom Davis.
