"...which you might find in a Bacon lettuce and tomatoe sandwich...."

Love it when Valentine breaks the fourth wall as Randolph Duke kindly describes to him where he might find bacon. So subtle but perfect.

reply

Yes, it was perfect timing. Why? Because although it was kindly, it was a little condescending, as if Randolph were instructing a child.

For all they knew, Valentine had the mind of a child, but Randolph at least to his credit thought that he could learn (hence the bet).

The Duke's learned later that Valentine was actually a pretty sharp cookie and learned the business quickly, but they still couldn't let their innate prejudice go - and it cost them dearly.

Yea that got one me pretty good. Laughing out load and my wife telling me to keep it down the kids are asleep. Once she saw what i was watching , she understood

Truly the best, subtle, fourth wall break ever done in any film ever. Used only once in the movie, then never again. It's absolutely perfect and drives the story forward.

A good friend and I love this movie. But we constantly do the pork bellies line, and we always crack up over Eddie Murphy's aside to the camera. "We sell pork bellies. Pork bellies are used to make bacon. You might find bacon in a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich." I'm laughing to myself as I typed that!
