Why doesn't the troups come + get them out of the town?
Why are these people just forgotten?? Supposedly it was just part of the country.

Some soldiers probably would have survived, although probably not in cohesive units. In any case, if the attack was large enough, there have been no government left to give orders. That was the impression I got.

Any soldier boys left might be trying to keep order at food depots outside of the 20mile diameter fires that used to be cities. That and shooting looters on sight in what remains of the sprawling urban conurbations.
In short, there is no help after a full scale weapons exchange, its all over bar the looting and murdering.
Enjoy it while it lasts
Nobody is comming to help them because there is no nobody left to help them.
