Who here thinks that....

the town of Hamlin would have been able to continue to have weekly garbage pickups after the bombings? Does anyone besides me think that this was a totally unrealistic movie simply from that standpoint?

I mean, I understand when the music teacher from the school said that the school would reopen to keep a sense of normalcy for the town (they even continued with their Pied Piper play...), but who here really thinks this would happen in real life? If this really happened, I'd be damned if I'd let my kids out of my sight for 5 let alone send them back to school.....

Who are you going to pay to take the garbage away, and what are you going to pay them with? If it's the end of civilization, are you going to show up to your job? I wouldn't. People would probably just burn their garbage like they did in the old days.

But I agree I wouldn't let the kids go to school. You don't know what's going to happen. There could be armed militias and crazy survivalists running around and there's no police or military to enforce law and order.

But, even when they said "garbage pick-up will not continue," there was already trash piling up on the sides of the road. I think that's kind of a minor nit to pick.

Me too!

I also don't remember seeing a movie that has brought out so many women haters as this one...am I missing something?

There was a LOT of denial going on at that town meeting. The Apricot guy and the Doctor knew what was coming, but the pharmacist was complaining about getting reimbursed for a broke picture window.

They would have garbage pick up if the sanitation workers were alive and/or well. Did you even think of the possibility that they might have been dead or sick or that Hamlin might have garbage pick up from a company from another city or town?
And have you seen any of the times in the news when tornadoes have damaged or destroyed one or more schools? They put the children in school as soon as possible to give a sense of normalcy and a regular routine for them, which educators argue is healthier than staying home with their parents.
