UK/BBFC rating: SA's PG compared to SNF's 18

I noticed the other day that the BBFC (the British rating board) rated 'Staying Alive' as PG whereas 'Saturday Night Fever' has an 18 certificate. Does anyone know of any other cases where there was such a discrepancy in ratings between original/sequels?

The Terminators got lower with each film. 1984(18)1991(15)2003(12A)even though it had an R rating in the U.S which is the equivalent to a 15/18.

And funnily enough,it was only this morning I was thinking about how bizarre the Mission Impossible ratings are. The first one is way too violent to be a PG,and the second one is too tame for a 15. I wonder what the third one will be?

Good point about the M:I ratings. And we know now that part 3 has a 12A certificate...also a remarkable rating, one of the most violent 12/12A films I've seen!

SNF was an ault film with a lot of strong language, some graphic sex (in a car, I seem to remember) and I think some drug use too. Staying Alive was made for a family audience, so it got a PG as it didn't feature any of the above.
