anyone notice there seems to be a guy in the background trying to jump up and get into shot when tony is strutting, he seems to be laughing at him too

This is the greatest piece of extra work, in the history of the cinema lol. Everytime I see this guy I start laughing. He's only on screen for three seconds, but you have to wonder who the hell he is and what happened to him? I wonder if Stallone planned to have this guy leaning up against the wall?

he is john travoltas long term boyfriend, he was also having an affair with sly stallone while filming was being done. i believe this is why he smiles, becasue he thinks he has got away with it, but after john travolta vanishes into thin air after his strut i think he tells the man that he knows and htey break up

He was neither famous nor was he there by chance. He was purposely put there to represent what Stallone wanted audiences to think as they watched Travolta strut through Times Square to a classic Bee Gees song from the first movie, and that was, "You're the man, Tony!" Remember that this was immediately after Manero's first Broadway triumph, so this guy's appearance was simply one of those little things that film directors sometimes do to add more "feel" to certain scenes. Personally, I think it worked brilliantly.

As it was in the beginning,
So shall it be in the end,
That bullsh*t is bullsh*t,
It just goes by different names.
