Oh dear this movie was bad - although maybe in 1983 it was real cool:) But I have to say, I couldn't stop watching because of Travolta - wasn't he just gorgeous in that white suit and the blue sweater matching his big blue eyes!??!
Travolta was an ABSOLUTE God in this film! I agree the movie itself was not spectacular, BUT I did not watch it for the plot...I watched it because I was mesmerized by John Travolta. He was GORGEOUS!....His amazing body, and the way he could dance, and THAT Adonis face of his...OMG!....I can't look away when he is on the screen, whether he is dancing, or just standing there looking God like....he had a beautiful face with those beautiful blue eyes, and THAT BODY!....Wow....he was truly a God in his younger days....
He is so hot in this movie...his dancing is mesmerizing. But, I've been in love with him since Grease and Welcome Back Kotter...so it's not just his body...he has a great screen presence. He is wonderful to watch....even now, even when he's dancing in Hairspray as a woman..he's still hot. ;) I don't care how much hair he has. His cute little singing voice and his awesome dancing. He is a great actor. He is the trifacta...just like the old days...Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire.....I love this man. Hell Barbra Streisand wanted to do a duet with him at one time.
I'm watching Staying Alive right now, as it's showing on Australian TV. Not only is it much more engrossing than I remembered, and keeping me up past bedtime, but Travolta is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. While his fellow cast members frump around in voluminous '80s clothes, he scrubs up pretty well in every scene; everything he wears would still look fine today. Especially that blue V-neck top he slips into for breakfast with his mum. (Deep sigh of awe)
lol I don't know about the guys in this movie, but there was maybe 2 or 3 years in the early 80s when I thought clothes were so cool. The western thing that became popular with his other movie Urban Cowboy was over and the Madonna workout clothes thing hadn't started yet. I loved Richard Gere's clothes in American Gigolo and there was one outfit in Staying Alive I never forgot. It was worn by Finola Hughes. It looked like it was green leather. It was great. But back to the topic, yes, John Travolta was in the best shape and looked great in this movie.
