As a big fan of "Saturday Night Fever", I couldn't wait for this sequel. As it turned-out, this should never have been made. The story was horrible and almost no mention of the former characters was given. The dancing I didn't care for and there was not 1 memorable song.
I have to agree with the OP. I'm a huge fan of "Fever" but I felt really let down by "Staying Alive". The worst thing about it for me was that I didn't see Tony Manero in this movie, only John Travolta all the way through.
SNF and Staying Alive are 2 very different movies, even though they are about the same characters, setting, subject matter, etc. I actually really enjoy both movies, but like I said, they are very different. If you watch Staying Alive expecting another SNF, you're naturally going to be disappointed. But as a stand-alone movie, Stayling Alive is fun and enjoyable, even with all its cheese. :)
Exactly paul and i agree with you. I think everyone was expecting the movie to be another Saturday Night Fever but Staying Alive is a completely different movie all together.
Caddyshack 2 or Weekend at Bernies 2 easily beat Staying alive as worst sequel!!!!!! You must agree on that!! Where did those two films rank in that famous 2006 article of 'worst sequels' ??
So you want a realistic, down to earth show that is off the wall and swarming with magic robots?
It was so bad that I actually enjoy watching it. It goes into that category of film that is so bad that it's good (don't ask, i can't even figure it out myself!).
