The only people that I can think of that falls in that area are Tony's mother and that journalist who was intent exposing Sosa's drug operations. I suppose that Jerry the banker isn't really a bad guy. Even though Tony uses him to launder his money, Jerry is honest and upfront when he tells Tony that he has to inevitably raise his rates and that other banks can't be trusted.

shareThe only time that Tony seems to really show his humanity is when he refused to take part in killing that reporter's family while in New York, despite Sosa's orders. I suppose that Tony in his own way, not wanting Gina to mingle with the "bad crowd" (hence why Manny had to pay the consequences when he ignored his stern warning to not to mess around with her) is another example of him showing his humanity.

We can all agree that Manny was a violent killer and a hood but he was a pretty cool dude otherwise, plus he seriously seemed to be into Gina
That shooting scene at the condo was one of those times Tony really screwed up
Manny would have murdered 10 guys and died with an empty Uzi in his hands at the mansion 30 minutes later!

Isn't it equally as possible that if Tony had not murdered Manny that Tony would not have been shot in the back by the assassin, because Manny would've been there to *ahem* have Tony's back, as he had previously throughout the movie?

Al Pacino did give a good performance but his character was such an unlikable jerk. In every scene he acts rude and vulgar towards everyone. Then at the end you are rooting for the assassins to kill him. The movie itself also has a slow pace a lot of the time. I disagree with a poster on this board that said Goodfellas had a slower pace than this. That movie was way more fast paced. Then again, Goodfellas wasn't almost 3 hours long. Honestly, I'd give this a 5/10.
