NO WOMEN, NO KIDS

Why didn't TM just tell Sosa ahead of time this moral clause of his right off the bat, instead of messing up his end of the deal? It seemed like he made that at the last minute. He would've been alive.

reply

The idea of the kids in the car never really crossed his mind

reply

No one ever anticipated the situation.

reply

He did tell him beforehand, pay attention to what he says. But it doesn't matter, Sosa cares about results, him and his lackey are cold blooded killers and the man was a threat to his career and his associates.

reply

Well first off, I don't think Tony cared at all what Sosa thought about his decision. Even though Sosa was technically his boss, Tony still had a set of morals. And secondly, the wife and kids being in the car was completely unexpected. If the wife and kids wouldn't have been there, Tony would've undoubtedly completed the task at hand without hesitation. And as in for 'still being alive', Tony definitely didn't care about the repercussions. He was basically on a suicide mission / power-play. I don't think Tony cared about living or dying in the first place. The most ironic thing is that the only good decision Tony ever made, is the decision that got him killed.

reply

Agreed. And yet I think if he wasn’t so messed up with the coke and had calmly explained to Sosa why he did what he did, he could have salvaged things.

The guy who was headed to the U.N. already knew and publicized the identities of Sosa and his South American partners. Killing him is one thing; killing his wife and child in public would have created an international shitstorm that would have planted an even bigger target on Sosa and his friends.

They would have been better off pulling a “Godfather II” on the U.N. guy— set it up so that he was caught in a compromising situation.
