Remake... thoughts?

A remake has been rumoured for years... apparently the Coen brothers were involved and David Ayer (End of Watch, Fury, Street Kings) will direct it...

I'm excited, I think it'll be great to see another director's take on a similar Scarface story in a different setting... overdue

Could be really interesting... I think you need a director with a strong ability for visual storytelling and visual style, or someone who partnered with a solid cinematographer

Scarface looks so good primarily because of DePalma's decisions... the wide angle compositions, the camera movements, the difference between the flashier and quieter scenes... so good

Pacino was key to the 80s version of Scarface. Come to think of it, I think Scarface is so good because it is a perfect mix of Pacino, DePalma and Oliver Stone... dangerous mix!

The actor will be a challenge. Apparently Deigo Luna is going to be the lead... Not exactly an inspiring choice, I would have tried to get Michael Pena. I think he could be interesting...

This movie is already a remake. We don't need another. God why can't they just leave shit... good shit... alone?!

Its not going to erase the existing movie and is not a sequel/prequel...

As i understand it, it'll be a completl different and unrelated story, but with some of the themes of the earlier ones...

I'd prefer thiis kind of reinterpretation to just a sequel or simple remake.

But no.

I like Diego Luna but he doesn't have the magnetic charisma Muni or Pacino had in playing an unlikable character that many still like and emulate. I think Oscar Isaac or Bobby Cannavale would be a better fit for a remake, because both can be verry magnetically charismatic and they're the right ethnicity.

I don't want to see Deigo Luna pretending to be Tony Montona or for that matter Tony Camonte, make him an orginal character!

I really hope that no director even attempts to remake Scarface. Absolutely not! This movie is the ultimate cult classic. There's just no way that any director could possibly outshine De Palma's film. No way! Al Pacino will always be Scarface. This is one of those movies that should just be left alone. Enough horrible remakes.
