I wonder just how Manny and Gina rationally came to the conclusion that getting married was a smart idea. Especially Manny. His death was the only one in the movie that bothered me. It's very very true that he was a womanizing, drug-dealing sleazebag, but within the context of the movie, is still a very likeable character. I hate to admit it, but he deserved what was coming to him in a way. Tony did warn him after all about even thinking about messing around with Gina. Manny knew about Tony's explosive temper and problems with being impulsive, but he still played with fire anyway. Kind of sad to see a friendship as tight as that one end the way it did.

He didn't 'mess around' with her though, he married her. I think they always intended to tell Tony but if Tony had seen Manny 'court' Gina he would have assumed he was just using her for pussy instead of it being real love.

It was foolish for Manny to keep Tony in the dark.He made it worse by not answering Tony's calls.Tony left Manny in charge for Christ sake.

Yeah, he was stupid as all hell. He knew damn well tony was mentally unstable. I felt nothing when he was shot even first seeing as a fourteen year old. I knew what was coming, he signed his own death certificate.

Glad someone else has mentioned this. Arguably going AWOL when Tony had left him in charge was far stronger grounds for getting got than the Gina thing. Plus the banker who turned out to be an undercover lawman was recommended to Tony by Manny, so to Tony, Manny was at least partly responsible for the fact that he was in this situation and had to go out of town in the first place. And when Tony calls him on it (think it's during the "say goodbye to the badman" dinner), Manny's too dumb to comprehend this (so it's therefore not exactly out of character for him to pull such a dumb move of sneaking around with Gina - kinda ties in with extechop's comment about how he also got sanitation and sanitarium mixed up. He should have just said nothing and they'd have thought he was a horse)

The kind of dumb you might expect from a guy who, say, mixes up "held in a sanitarium /sanatorium" with "working in sanitation"
