Did anyone read the 1983 novel tie in?

It was written by Paul Monette and came out I think a few months before the movie in 1983. It's simply called "Scarface".

I got it as a Christmas present a few years ago and I loved it! Usually I thought these move tie in novels were probably just gonna be a boring re-hash of what you see in the movie (admittedly I haven't read many though), but this "Scarface" one was really interesting to me. It really dives into not only Tony's past, but Elvira's too. The relationships between all of that characters are also explored and expanded upon in a way that is always harder to focus on with a movie that has time constraints. It really added a depth to the story that, as a giant fan, I just loved. I have read it several times since and still enjoy it.

Did anyone else read it? What did you think?

If you're interested here is the amazon page for the novel.

I read it about 10 years ago, I loved it, it really fleshed out Tony's character and we understood him better and it made him a bit more likeable than he already was in the movie, which makes it suck all the more when he gets killed in the end.
