I re watched it the other day and it is amazing how well this film holds up. 32 years after it's release and I think it's safe to say that this film is timeless.

Actually, I don't agree with you on the timelessness of it, however it very much still holds up today for the exact opposite reason in that it perfectly captures that time, the 80's, in a way that no other film has.

Ehh some parts hold up well but I've grown up on modern films and looking back to this one you can see the 80s feel especially with that cheesy 'push it to the limit' montage. But I think it's 80 cheese is part of the beauty of the film because it's something that can't be replicated to the same authenticity with films out now.
