Has Tony's love for his sister got to do with him being on coke?

Or just incest feelings?

reply

Neither. If you remember when Manny was driving her home he told her that she was the only good and pure thing that he had in his life and that's why he felt the need to take care of her.

It seems like Tony could only love his sister no one else, he couldn't love Michelle Pfeiffer or Manny.

reply

I think a lot of people misunderstand that scene. Tony was not into his sister

Why would he want his baby sister with a guy like Manny?

reply

As Oliver Stone said on the behind the scenes Tony can't love or connect to anyone, all he can love is his sister his blood, his ability to imagine a form of love outside himself is gone by the materialism that surrounds him.

reply

Is developing sexual feelings for family members a known side effect of cocaine?

reply

Don't know, maybe. It seemed all he could love was his sister.

😄

This is a bizarrely amusing conversation but at least one person made a good point about Tony not being able to truly love anyone outside of himself besides his sister.

reply

Can only love his own flesh and blood.

reply

His ability to imagine a form of love outside himself or seeing his sister in a relationship are gone by the life he's taken up as a criminal/drug lord.

reply

Like in Breaking Bad all Walt could really love after getting into drug dealing was his children and the other character Mike his granddaughter.

I think he had a psychological complex where he projected onto her everything about himself that had once been good and honorable. He had become a criminal a long time ago, but still was completely attached to the idea of some residual goodness. If it couldn't live on in him, it would in her. That's why he was so protective of her.
