I mean it's their first language so it's quite funny that they choose to speak english. However everything Al Pacino says in his hilarious cuban/american accent is pure GOLD

Out of all the principal actors who played Cubans in this movie, only Steven Bauer was actually Cuban.
Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio is from Illinois
F. Murray Abraham is of Syrian descent and is from Pittsburg, but grew up in Texas
Paul Shenar is from Wisconsin, for crimeny sakes
Al Pacino and Robbert Loggia are Italians fron New York
Now that is some acting! Some of it admittedly bad....but acting nonetheless.

LOL, didn't know that. I knew Pacino is italian but I thought most of the actors in the movie like Bauer had spanish descent.

Would you have preferred to be reading subtitles throughout all the movie? That, along with the fact that these actors don't speak Spanish, is the main reason they all speak English.
shareWell I always have subtitles on no matter what language is spoken. So yeah I do read subtitles throughout the entire movie, lol.

The most effective way of handling this conundrum that I have ever seen, was in the movie The Hunt for Red October.
Sean Connery, Sam Neill and the rest of his "Russian" sub crew, spoke Russian for about the first 10 minutes of the movie, with English subtitles. Then they segued into them all speaking English as the political officer was reading a Bible passage in Russian that switched to English, so it was understood that although we the audience were hearing English...they were in fact speaking to themselves, in Russian.
And the punchline was that after the shift, Neill, Tim Curry and the rest of the crew spoke English in a smarmy Russian accent....Connery just used his regular old Scottish accent and made no attempt at even so much as a Russian accent.
