Michelle Pfeiffer, gorgeous here, or....?

I personally thought she looked good. too bad i wasn't alive back then (and preferably in the states).
My question is: do you like her (physically) in this movie? what do you think about that specific body type in today's world?
does a market for that type of body exist still?

LOL. What a weird question. She's not an automobile coming off an assembly line!

She a tiger. I said, she belong to me.

yes. a lot of actresses have figures like hers today. I think she looks unique compared to today's actresses because the angular 80s hair and clothing makes her seem sharp and extreme; like a walking knife.

Pfeiffer was gloriously starved and gangrel, befitting the depressive and drunken Elvira. Her 'eighties-era make-up flares on the sides of her head made her resemble a strung-out Pat Benetar. The only thing more downputting than her personality was her bony, undersized decolletage; this was the genesis of Calvin Klein's 'heroin-chic'. Pfeiffer played the role to perfection, but looked much, much better in 'The Fabulous Baker Boys'... and that was SIX YEARS later.

Believe it or not, there is still a 'market' out there for this 'body type'... amongst mysogynistic fashion-mongers, and sexual sadists. Excelsior!

reply

Agree. She looked better later.

She had the face of a supermodel, and I'm not just saying that to point out that she was very good looking. I mean that she had that unique supermodel face with the wide set babyblue eyes, angular cheekbones and jawline etc.

reply

She was OK I guess. But she looked like the once very pretty, junkie she was supposed to be portraying...

reply

I agree with some of the posters….She looked much more beautiful in later films….but you all are right about her look was intentional …heroin chic etc…junkie….

I've never liked her look that much, tbh.

'Then' and 'than' are different words - stop confusing them.

She has always had that incredibly gorgeous face. Like others have said, it's like a supermodel's face - the cheekbones, the blue eyes, the sculpted face. But the body? Eh. Way too skinny. Just not a lot going on there.

Unfortunately, there is still a huge "market" for this type of body. Here's my theory. Gay people run the fashion world. What type of women's body looks most like a man? A woman with no chest and no hips. So the market for this type of body never dries up in the fashion world - on magazine covers, in clothing stores, on ads for Target. The market for this type of body never goes away. And it leads to all sorts of body image problems for young girls, unfortunately.

I absolutely hate the whole 'heroin chic' or ultra-skinny look, and I do agree that in some scenes the otherwise gorgeous Michelle Pfeiffer looked way too skinny. But I think it's partly to do with Pfeiffer's natural body shape. She has a very slim/thin upper torso, but she actually looks a little bit curvier, and thus sexier, in the hips/thighs, especially when she wears the green one-piece swimsuit. https://bloggojane.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/6.jpg

I still think Michelle Pfeiffer is one of the most beautiful women who has ever existed, but imagine a woman with Pfeiffer's face and say, Marilyn Monroe's body.

reply

Yeah I just rewatched the swimsuit scene and she doesn't seem skinny to me, just neither endowed nor muscular/fat..

reply

She was 24/25 this movie, but seemed a little older.

reply

She does seem older. But her character is supposed to be very world-weary.

Maybe this is odd, but I actually find Tony's initial "courtship" of her to be strangely romantic. He treats her with total respect as he pursues her. In the scene with her by the pool he doesn't even touch her.

Kind of a loaded question. Michelle Pfeiffer is/was gorgeous when waking up in the morning (no not personally verified, I just know it's true), so yes she was gorgeous here. That said, she's looked much better in other movies, most notably The Fabulous Baker Boys and Married to the Mob.

reply

I think she is a bit lacking on top, not saying to have double D's, but a bit more lol.

As far as looks...MP is a beautiful woman, but I think she looked better with age....
Think she is THE hottest Catwoman...

Also, find it very funny that she has been quoted as saying she hates her lips, to me that is one of the most sexiest things about her!!

reply

She has a pretty face but her boobs are way too small probably a 34A or B. If she had D cups like me she would look better. :)

reply

in my opinion she looked good, but she looked her best in the movie "wolf". she was a little too skinny in this. i like alot of different body types, weight isnt really an issue, it's more about shapes, facial features, and clothing style.

reply

She did look best in Wolf, I agree, also she looked pretty in Batman returns.

reply

I LOVE her little boobehz, but then I like little boobehz...... hell... I like big boobehz too :)

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!
