Was lana in on the robbery??

Always wondered if lana knew or had some kinda hand in on the robbery.

Lana knew something. She wasn't very scrupulous. It's clear that she and Joel used each other.

Absolutely.

The day Joel goes to school and leaves Lana at the house, she has her free rein of the place. She poked around and saw the designer Persian rugs, silver pitcher & fine china collection, audio equipment, and even drove the Porsche to pick up her out-of-state hooker friend. Didn't hurt that Guido paid a visit looking for Lana early on and probably knew sight-on-seen that house was up for grabs.

^ In addition to that, the look on her face when Joel asks her about it tells me... she most likely did.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jackie (the guy in the dress) was in on it, too.

This seems like it was pretty well put together, timed perfectly, and likely not the first time they had done it, nor the last.

Jackie probably got a finder's fee for his role.

Personal and Business relationships can take a weird dance, especially when its so intermingled in a business like prostitution.

I think she was of split mind...Liking Joel..and Joel liked her....But some need for Guido in a lifestyle she hadn't really left yet.

Joel saw the good in her...and even though she likely helped Guido rob the house on some level even if it was under duress...all worked out well in the end for Joel....he had the time of his life...time of his life...got into Princeton and it only cost him the egg.

reply

I think that Lana set up the robbery at the end so Guido could make some money in exchange for letting her go...

reply

That sounds a bit weird for her to first set up the brothel and then have the robbery the very next day. She stole the glass egg, sure. But Guido knew where he lived and knew what kind of stuff he had (and had an insider in Vicki).

That was a lot for Lana to do just to set Joel up to get his house robbed.

Yes, it was an inside job. And Lana had a hand in it. So I believe Joel got an inside hand job from Lana.

Probably in the living room.

It always seemed pretty obvious she was involved somehow, first with stealing the egg and then when Joel leaves her alone at the house to go to school, her casing different areas of the house, using the keys of the house to open various locks, etc. What I always wanted to know was whether Lana's answer to Joel at the end was sincere or just a way to get away from the question? She gives two answers "No" and "You don't believe me". The only thing I can figure is that it was a setup for her at the beginning and about 1/2 way through the movie, then she found she really did have true feelings for him. Then even that gets muddled because Guido says that she love choo choo trains and that was her way of getting Joel away from the house so he and Vicki could steal everything.

reply

She was very untrustworthy.
