Anyone see the 1990 TV series?

They're on youtube if you want to check it out. I remember trying it out during the initial run on Fox and not exactly hating the series, but it really felt like a 90's show acting like a 50's (or was it 60?) setting. Sadly 3, of the main actors have passed away, while 2 went on to larger careers.

With all the remakes going out, maybe it's time to give the characters another go.

Thanks for posting this. I enjoyed the tv series as much as the movie when I was in Jr high.

Yeah, I saw a new series with the same name, but it's totally unrelated. I wonder who could play the gang in 2016?

I remember seeing the show when it first aired, but haven't seen it since.

The actor who played Ponyboy, Jay R. Ferguson, later that same year after The Outsiders was cancelled played Burt Reynolds oldest son on the tv series Evening Shade for four seasons. Antenna TV has been airing Evening Shade for about a year. It now airs on Sundays at 6 & 6:30 pm eastern time.

Now Jay R. Ferguson is playing the dad in a new show with Martha Plimpton called The The Real O'Neals (2016) on ABC that started a few weeks ago.

The Outsiders TV series also starred a young David Arquette.

I don't know what they have to say. It makes no difference anyway. Whatever it is, I'm against it.

Personally, I loved it. You have to view it as a separate entity from the movie. I was always against watching it because "no, there can't be other people playing these characters!!" but I gave it a shot and I loved it. Maybe it's not the best show in the history of television, by any means, but I enjoyed it.

I remember watching this television show back in 1990. It did not do anything for me. Completely forgettable television adaption. Lacked the heart and feel of the book and 1983 film.

But hey, that's just me.

Damn, THREE actors from that show died? I do recall Harold Pruett and Rodney Harvey whom they actually did a True Hollywood Story about in the early years of that series. Who was the third actor?

Also, the series came out around the time 90210 debuted when FOX was looking for a replacement for the recently departed 21 Jump Street, and they were banking left and right for the next hit series starring a young cast of good looking actors, that's part of the reason why it didn't have as much heart as the movie version had.

When there's no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.
