Outsiders is a prequel to a ton of other 80s movies

I didn't know this but the movie "The Outsiders" is the prequel movie that spawned off a whole lot of other movies.

KARATE KID
After the success of "The Outsiders", Ralph Macchio's Johnny Cade character was brought back to life (his death was retconned) as the character Daniel LaRusso. Now that his character had survived the fire, after being released from the hospital, his mother, fearing that the gang life would end up killing her son, packs him up, changes their names, and moves to California. This explains why she was so upset when she first sees his black eye after the beach party. She fears that Daniel is already falling back into his gang life style. Also, every time Daniel sees Johnny he gives him a menacing glare. This is because he is thinking about stabbing Johnny. Now is he wanting to stab him or scared of wanting to stab him? I don't know. But there it is.

MIGHTY DUCKS
Emilio Estevez's character, Two-Bits, gets out of the gang life and puts himself through law school. No one is going to hire or take a lawyer named Two-Bits seriously so he changes his name to Gordon Bombay. You know the rest of the story.

TOP GUN
Steve Randel, played by Tom Cruise, opts out of the gang life by joining the US Navy.

Pony Boy sets out on the road picking up hitchhikers.

POINT BREAK OR ROADHOUSE
Patrick Swayze fully embraces his bad boy lifestyle, sets up a new gang called the ex-presidents. OR he becomes a bouncer and starts kicking the *beep* out of people.

Hold on there. You left out some things.

Before Ponyboy starts picking up hitchhikers he finds out his real parents are James Garner and Shirley Jones. He turns into a preppy Army Brat. He ends up in a Georgia prison farm at the hands of a corrupt southern redneck sheriff. His father - a Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army - hijacks a Tank and breaks his son out of the prison.

After this he follows Big Daddy Garner's footsteps and fights a Russian invasion of America in Red Dawn along side big brother Darry.

Very interesting. I never knew this was a prequel to all the movies you listed

Um, sorry, but Two-Bit wound up single handedly fighting off a global monster truck invasion and ended up living on a deserted Island with a Jennifer Beals lookalike!

Also, Darrel "Darry" Curtis (AKA Patrick Swayze) went on to become a robber first. The police tracked him down to the site of the 100 year storm and then they let him go. He was going to ride the "ultimate wave" bat at the last minute decided not to. He relocated to somewhere in the south and became a bouncer. So, Point Break and Road House are one and the same my friend.

Meanwhile, Sodapop "Soda" Curtis (AKA Rob Lowe) ended up going to Georgetown university, where he majored in Saxophone. Then he frequented a preppy bar called St. Elmo's Fire. Then he relocated again to NYC in order to try to make it as a professional saxophonist. Unfortunately, that career didn't work out for him and he relocated (yet again) to a small town called Salem's Lot. Sadly, for him he ended up doing battle with a swarm of blood thirsty vampires who decimated the town. Last I heard is that he had to kill the love of his life because she was a vampire, and he was on the run from the coven of vampires that he encountered in Salem's' Lot.
