Wtf the music

I don't remember all this cheesy 50s music badly put on top of scenes for no reason. Is this a recent change?

Complete novel version, I agree with you. Original score fits much better.

Would the DVD have the original music though? This feels like an episode of happy days

The regular DVD has the original music. The Complete Novel Edition (available on both DVD and Blu-Ray) has the new music (which I actually prefer). But both versions are good.

I agree the 50/60s style music was out of place and jarring but wish they would have originally done something similar...but better.
I like the period music but by the time they put some in it didn't work. I hate the Stevie Wonder song.
Actually, i like a lot of the epic, orchastral music but would have liked some moments of appropriate, fitting rock n roll.

I liked the Stevie Wonder song when I was a teenager, but it seems out of place now. It's far from his best work. I never liked modern music in period films. They only period song in the 1983 version was "Gloria". The score in the 2005 version may have been heavy handed, but I commend the effort. I didn't like the original score at all.

Yes, what you saw was a special edition. When I bought this "special" dvd years ago, I thought it had additional scenes, and/or outtakes. When I watched it with a friend, we both constantly complained every 5 minutes with every new song, and turned it off after about 35-40 minutes! Horrible idea. I gave it away eventually.

I hate how they dubbed over the movie with all the new music. I like the original version better.

reply

I don't know which version I saw but whichever it was, the music was awful - ridiculously obtrusive.

"Puss rules!"
"It's Pus"

I wish there was a version with a combo of the extended scenes + the original score. Then the movie would be perfect.
