This deserves a proper remake

This movie had potential with its cast and plot but it turned out to be a big editorial and scriptorial mess. Even Robert Ludlum felt it was too complex for the screen and offered to have it rewritten for free but he was denied. It'd be great now that Ludlum's "Bourne" franchise has become popular thrillers to re-do this one.

I just saw it tonight and about halfway through it, I thought the same thing. It could definitely use some re-tooling.

Hmm. Hauer could play Danforth....

It is being remade. Summit is doing it. Simon Kinberg (Mr. & Mrs. Smith) has written the new script.

Alas...

I'd like that, but only if they do it as a period piece, circa 1970.. It reeks of that era, the Soviet paranoia that existed then.. I'd give it a look.. The book was wonderful on several levels..

Any update on the remake ??? It is 2012 ...

Not going to happen...

Good! The movie is fine as it is...

No, what it deserves is for anyone suggesting it be remade to be kicked repeatedly in the balls by someone wearing steel toed work boots until they're disabused of the notion.

Who pee'd in your Wheaties? Wow! you really have some issues if your solution is physical violence to anyone with an opinion that differs from yours.

I can't comment because I never saw the movie. The book was excellent though.

That would be interesting

I agree that would be pretty cool.
