these questions of the movie

why was the desk clerk so uncooperative when the family was stuck (accepting the check , he knew they were stuck), was it illegal for clark to leave Aunt edna on the patio, How did Aunt Edna die, when Roy wally said the smell in the backseat was unbearable during taking the family to Florida 2 weeks what made it smell? When Clark said Would you do the same thing and Roy said no, what did Roy mean by that?

In real life they wouldnt close a theme park that time of year as thats how busy it was

reply

1. Banker probably was just following policy.
2. Probably illegal to just leave a dead body, not sure though.
3. I'm assuming she died from natural causes. She was pretty old.
4. The smell was probably BO, sweat and smelly feet. Was in a car for only two full days a few years ago with my family and was starting to get stinky in our car also.
5. Clark basically asked Roy if he were in the same situation, would he do the same thing and Roy said no. So Roy was saying he would not have taken a guard hostage and forced them to take them on the rides

Also, depending on were the theme park is, it may be able to be open year round and not have an off-season. In Wisconsin, no you would not shut down in the summer.

The desk clerk was following the correct procedures. He ran the credit card that came back lost, and the clerk didn't know Clark, so for all he knew he could have been a fraudster trying to use the card. The clerk was correct for denying the acceptance of the check.

Edna probably died from a stroke or heart attack. Remember that everyone was pretty shaken when Clark drove off the road & crashed the car in Monument Valley and it probably took a toll on her. Add to that all the stress with everything going wrong on the trip, and Edna was a bitter woman anyway, likely caused her to die.

The smell from the back seat on a road trip could be a combination of body odor, pet odor, rotten food, and garbage.

Roy meant that he wouldn't have broken into the theme park, held the guards at gunpoint and forced them to take his family on the rides.

And one thing is that if Clark didn't have that much cash, How would he pay to get into Wally World? I know his Card would have gotten declined.

reply

That's a good question. All these years of watching this and I've never even thought of it. Maybe they bought tickets ahead of time through a travel agent but was that possible back then? Plus a travel agent might have known it was closed. I don't know.
