How can there be enough low ratings

To make this a 7.4. I would hate to meet the stick in the mud with the corncob up his/her butt that voted this less than an 8 or 9. How could anyone that would be interested enough in comedies to give this a shot not think this was a near perfect comedy?

reply

51.7% give it an 8 or above, although no demographic group gives it above 7.9. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085995/ratings?ref_=tt_ov_rt

My guess is that many IMDb types think 8s and 9s are for real serious movies like Shawshank Redemption, Citizen Kane, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Godfather, etc., and not for comedies.

Good point!!

Think I rated it a 9/10, but hell, it might deserve a 10. Truly one of the greatest comedies ever, imo. It's still funny to me everytime I watch it.

I'd given this movie 7/10 years ago but just now after a rewatch, I did not find it nearly as funny. I knocked down my score of it to 5/10.

You and Warner's brothers, too, who love the new remake, right?

christmas vacation is definitely the funniest of all these movies, the fourth is pretty bad but it's still fun to see them together for another adventure, the latest (2014) entry i consider the worst movie i have ever seen, and the one enjoyable bit having clark and ellen returning was lost putting them in like cameo roles, i don't even view that as part of the series and i think it's pretty much forgotten now, christmas vacation 2: cousin eddie's island adventure is a masterpiece in compare. but on this, i can't believe i'm saying this, but after viewing the "christmas vacation" over the holidays i find this first movie a bit slow, also kind of bizzarre family movie considering some of the jokes, and speaking of jokes, the dog bit was fun? i thought people generally liked dogs, cats and so on, so what's the mystery behind entertainment world constantly abusing them. i didn't realise until now that brian doyle murray was in both first and third movie playing different parts, and he looks completely different, is he really bill murray's big brother? or actually his grandfather? so don't get me wrong, i love this and watch it whenever it airs, but christmas vacation is the superior, according to many, how often does that happen with a third movie. footage from this movie is used in the opening of the sitcom "married with children".

down low,
didnt know where to go,
led me to your home,
when felt no hope,
you manage to fill my heart with joy,
by the miracles you perform,
makes the trouble disappear,
every time you let me in your atmosphere.
