just to start off this IMDb board,because it was empty of comments and that is truelly a shame,ill say this about "the loveless" and let ya'll do the rest.
this amazing movie reminds me of the existential films of yore,i guess if INGMAR BERGMAN of 1957's "seventh seal" fame,had been an american 'pulp-noir' film maker in the late 70's/early 80's and had been the one to film 1954's "the wild one",instead of laslo benedek,it would have been this outstanding film.

I've just ordered 'The Loveless' on dvd, years since i've seen it. It is a cool flick. Stuck in some one horse town on the way to a race meeting, everything happens sloooowly, they all speak real slow as well. But it reaches quite a violent climax as i recall. I'm looking forward to seeing it again, i hope the dvd has some commentary tracks on it.

i Watched 'The Loveless' on dvd last night, wow, still a great film. The cast are constantly trying to 'out cool' each other which is fun and really gives the film energy. The transfer to dvd is fantastic and it gives the film a new lease of life, the colours are very vibrant and the detail is great.
It must have been the best part of 10 years since i'd last seen it, but it is still a pretty much unknown gem.

The film has a great atmosphere, David Lynch's films like Blue Velvet have a similar feel.

Could be due to the fact that the film's co-director, Kathryn Bigelow , went on to work with David Lynch on quite a few films. The Loveless, which was her calling card (and film school thesis project) was far from a perfect movie by her own admission, but the artistic direction was fantastic, which

Nope - NO SOUNDTRACK! I've been lookin' for it for years, and the closest I came was a fella who is friends with Robert Gordon offering to burn me a copy of the master. There should be one as it make sthe film what it is - sweet as candy!

There was a soundtrack released for the film - I had a copy years ago, a twelve inch LP, which would have been bought in the UK although it could have been an import.

I just watched "The Loveless" and thoroughly enjoyed it. I especially dug the really cool brooding atmosphere, this really seething sense of barely represssed menace, violence, despair, malaise, sexuality and homoeroticism which comes to an explosive conclusion at the end of the movie. Willem Dafoe and Robert Gordon both gave excellent performances, plus Marin Kanter was quite sassy and sexy as the jailbait teen girl tramp Dafoe becomes involved with. And that groovy rockabilly score was simply sensational!
