Why did the Fire Mares let themselves to be captured when they can fly??

Colwyn and gang corral a herd of Fire Mares in the dead end of a small valley. But these horses can fly, remember? Why would they allow themselves to be captured when they could just fly away? Answer? Bad writing ...and not questioned by anyone from the director, cast, to the crew.

They don't go from 0 to 200mph in 2 seconds. They "fly" due to a significant buildup up speed and running on a flat terrain where their momentum can carry them across a ravine.

Colwyn and his crew chased them into a box canyon in order to capture them as they knew the firemares couldn't build up the speed needed to get away.

Great writing. Like how they didn't pander to people by overexplaining it. Just left enough in for the average person to understand it and left they rather more dimwitted fellows of today's society left scratching their heads.

That's amazing that you would gather ALL that from nothing. As if the Fire Mares were completely dumb animals that weren't familiar with the terrain of their own home, and wouldn't instinctively run for some place flat, first thing, to escape Colwyn and gang. And dimwitted? Go *beep* yourself.

LeeMall just explained it all. I wouldn't say they fly and don't recall them saying they flew...

"Firemares...firemares can take us there."

they just are fast enough to Evil Kenevil a canyon.

Because if they didn't then Colwyn and Co. wouldn't have been able to the Black Fortress before it teleported elsewhere.

further, since they were on a 'quest for good' they may have had some magic help from elsewhere
