solid movie, even if people pick it apart

I grew up watching this movie. I like it. It is a fun hybrid medieval SCI-FI adventure. I don't know why so many people down on it and say it is so confusing and have a need to point out trivial flaws and nonsense. Every fantasy adventure has flaws and convoluted story arcs, but if the story is good enough to drive it forward without much thought to these things, then it has done a decent job.

I really don't understand why everyone compares it to Star Wars either. They are absolutely nothing alike. I can't think of one logical comparison between the 2, other than they are SCI-FI movies.

If anything it has fantastic production value and cinematography. A very professional and competent look for the time. I dig it.

Finally somebody else that agrees with me about Krull being nothing like Star Wars!! Only things people have said is the slayers are similar to the stormtroopers and Ynyr is like obi one Kenobi. Anyways yes overall completely 2 different films! I have loved Krill ever since it first was released!

Because it's the Brits trying to mix sci-fi with some form of their Arthurian legends, and some of the scenes are pretty hokey. That's why. Nothing major, but bad guys who fire one shot laser weapons and ride horses is kind of stupid, no matter how well the rest of the film is presented.

It's got a real mixed quality to it that kids will remember fondly, that fantasy and sci-fi enthusiasts might warm up to [as I sort of have] after a few viewings, but a film that mainstream audiences will think is dumb because how do you get guys with swords fighting guys with lasers? It doesn't wash.

There are aspects of the film that I really like, but there are chunks of it that I just laugh at or scorn. When the Prince reaches for the glaive in what we presume is molten lave, it comes across as him putting his hand in a gel mix or jello that's backlit. It's hokey.

Flame mares, same feeling. An interesting idea that sounds cool, but in fact is kind of a silly one when you see it on screen. Largely because there's no "umph" given to it.

I could rattle off a whole list of things. But for all that, the film is exceptionally well shot, well acted, and the production team really did put their best foot forward.

I hope that helps.

I love Krull (and Star Wars even more so). One thing I will say about the Slayers is they are much better shots than stormtroopers. They kill an entire castle full of people plus 90% of Colwyn's assorted band of adventurers. The stormtroopers couldn't shoot *beep*

I loved this when I was 10 when it came out and I love it even more today. Great movie. I'll never get sick of it. I watch it all the time, total guilty pleasure movie for me.
