now on itunes but...

I am not sure if it is in widescreen or remastered in HD. Has anyone checked it out on there???

reply

Although it's not HD I purchased the SD widescreen version of THE KEEP on iTunes and it does indeed look better than the Laserdisc version that has been out for so many years. I'm seeing detail I've never seen before. The lighting during the love scene looks very different too. Also... turn on the subtitles.. you can now understand lines of dialog that were hard to decipher before.

Thanks very much for the info. I think that I will roll the dice on this then!

Is it the same as the one on Amazon? If not then I wonder if this attention is foreshadowing a re-release in the near future... The documentary is wrapping up and it definitely looks thorough, to say the least. They wouldn't answer any of the questions I wanted to know, of course.

I didn't even know it was on Amazon. I live in Canada and I don't think it is on Amazon.ca here. Do you know when this Keep documentary is slated to come out? It sounds really cool.

reply

Doesn't look like it'll be out until next year maybe. They just wrapped up a ton of European interviews and are doing the American ones now I think. They're going to do crowdfunding to get it released or something like that.

Looking forward to it! You should check out Paul Duncan's and FX Feeney's book on Mann
Has a solid chapter on The Keep.

It has been on Amazon, free to stream for Prime subscribers.

Many movies come & go from the list of movies available for free on Prime. I miss a lot and wait for them to come around again.

I didn't realize the items available different so greatly between Amazon.com and Amazon.ca. Entirely different results for everything I searched, that's crazy.

Is the Tangerine Dream score intact in the iTunes version?

reply

Yes indeed. Great Tangerine Dream score and its all there. This is probably the best the film is going to look too. Aliitle better than the old widescreen laser disc from the 80s and 90s. Long live Tangerine Dream!

reply

Can't speak for the iTunes version but the one available on Amazon steaming is not widescreen and of poor quality.

reply

Thanks for the headsup, finally a watchable version! I love this movie for being so out of the ordinary.
