How come John Williams didn't return to compose the music?
Jw
shareHe was busy with Return of the Jedi and they probably couldn't have afforded him by then.
🐒Demented and sad, but social.🙈
Watch the film and you'll know why.
shareIndeed. I would hate to imagine JW struggling with composing for this deformity. Who knows, he may have produced some thrilling themes, but seeing as the film itself is anything but thrilling...
;)
I remember a website review of Orca, where the author noted that Ennio Morricone did the music. I think went something like, "The good news is Ennio Morricone did the music for this picture. The bad news is Ennio Morricone did the music for THIS movie!!", as if to imply that Ennio was slumming by agreeing to score that particular picture.
shareWell, that was the same year Ennio Morricone also did the score for Exorcist 2: The Heretic, so he was no stranger to being a composer for hire for Hollywood's worst movies in that era.
shareYeah, but Exorcist II started out a big budget studio film to a great first flick. To this day certain actors say the original screenplay was supposedly very good before being muddled with nonsense. Supposedly is the key word. I can see Morricone wanting to score it. Jaws 3 started out a low budget sequel and a spoof.
Ironically both sequels were spoofs in the end. However J3 still manages to make me laugh while E2 makes me say WTF who approved that line?

Assistant:
Mr. Williams they asked if you'd like to score Jaws 3 People...I mean Jaws 3D or 3 at way less pay with no returning cast members whose characters you could use to expand the themes.
Williams:
Wait Jaws what?
Assistant:
3D Mr. Williams.
John:
Nahh.
Assistant:
Wise choice.
