What did you rate ''Fire and Ice'' (1983)?

I was very entertained by this sword-and-sorcery adventure, but the limitations of its rotoscoped animation are severe. The story and characters are also very limited in their scope. Having watched this after seeing Princess Mononoke, a real animated fantasy-adventure, I couldn't rate this higher than 6/10.

What did you rate it? What do you think of it?

8/10. Stunning animation, colorful characters, a neat array of odd and often dangerous monsters, and the rousing orchestral score make this one a real fun watch. Moreover, the basic simplicity of the story gave this movie a certain likable charm.

Nicely made. Well-paced. Surreal animation. Good storyline.

Superb film. What a score! Tight editing, well paced. Amazing rotoscope animation. One of the best sword and sorcery films, live or animated. Better than Conan by far. It destroys Disney animated films made for ten times the budget. 10/10.

Teenage Me woulda given this movie about a 3. I absolutely hated it back in the day. But watching it now 30 years later (there's a prequel comic coming out soon, I wanted to see if it might interest me) i'd say this is a solid 7.5. And for the genre of Pre-Historic Savage Land, of which there is still precious little, it's a 10/10 banger no doubt. It's story-lite, bleak, moody, little dialog, just a bunch of maniacs running around killing each other. The fight choreography surprisingly impressive. Wandering monsters wreaking havoc. This was a seriously cool movie. And while saying little, I felt it actually had a lot to say, and delivered a great deal of character motivations that you had to fill in with your imagination. It really wasn't unlike looking at bad ass Frazetta art and imagining the story behind it.
