Sarah's reasons

Why does Sarah decide to have sex with Johnny after his coma once but only once? Surely it'd be kinder to him, if not having a continuing relationship like that, not to do it at all? Was she temporarily overwhelmed by passion but subsequently mindful of her marital responsibilities? (This wasn't my impression.) Or is she being selfish and just satisfying her curiosity about what it would be like with him? In the event, maybe not great, as she doesn't want a repeat. But then, I suppose it might well have been the chaste Johnny's first time. And last.

I beseech ye in the bowels of Christ, think that ye may be mistaken.

Well, I think she wanted to have that one time with him as they were cheated out of it. She can't leaver her husband so she tries to make the connection to her one great love.

reply

It was a big mistake by her in my opinion.

They never consumated their relationship before the accident. She offers him some jiggy jiggy when it starts raining after the fairground ride but he decides to leave saying "some things are worth waiting for". I guess this was her way of bringing the relationship to a satisfactory close for them both, they finally got to have the night they were cheated out of.

He probably gave her quite the pipe fitting. Must of been pRETTY backed up after 5 years in a coma!

reply

I think it was all for her but she let him believe she was doing him a favor. She might be kicking herself for taking an easier way out than to stick by him and wants to have her cake, eat it, and pretend she's still on that marriage diet.

Ugh. She comes off as a selfish woman, but probably she's having feelings for him as if she haven't turned them off to protect herself.

I'm over thinking. Lol

she just seemed completely selfish and treacherous to me. she leaves the guy a couple of years into a coma and then when he wakes up she cheats on her husband just to toy with Johnny's feelings when he'd be much better off if she just left him alone. I think the entire time she was thinking of herself.

I can understand Sarah moving on and marrying another man after Johnny was in a coma for 5 years. But cheating on her husband, who she describes as a good man and hurting Johnny once again (giving him hope), by sleeping with him was selfish and very wrong on her part. She basically betrayed 2 men, her husband and her great love. If she cared for either, she would let Johnny move on and not betray her husband.

reply

Really? People in these comments actually expected Sarah to wait for Johnny to awaken from a coma and not get involved with another man? Chances are he would never have come out of the coma. From her perspective, she was the one who was suffering from the probable loss of her fiance, being left with the difficult decisions about whether or not to move on with her life. She probably continued to love him. Maybe she would have ended up leaving her husband and staying with Johnny had he made a normal recovery after waking up.
