Better holiday themed cult movie, A Christmas Story or Hocus Pocus?

I had previously posted this question in the Hocus Pocus forums:
https://moviechat.org/tt0107120/Hocus-Pocus/671c557a2e5d6e6377b768c4/Hocus-Pocus-vs-A-Christmas-Story

To reiterate what I said over there, both are seasonal kids movies that didn't make a lot of waves during their original theatrical releases (less than ten years apart no less) but have since become synonymous with the respected holidays that they are set in because they're on television all of the time. And as with A Christmas Story, Hocus Pocus has become one of those movies where people know every single line.

I would call them equal in that regard.

Hocus Pocus.

Myself, I only ever watched Hocus Pocus a year ago. I don’t need to see it again.

A Christmas Story, however, I have watched every year, sometimes more than once, for decades.

So my answer is A Christmas Story.

I've never seen Hocus Pocus but it's strictly a kids movie. I think A Christmas Story has always been good and I think it has more appeal to young and older audiences. Being a period movie set in the 1940s-50s I think it's probably enjoyed by "Baby Boomers".

I enjoy both, but A Christmas Story is overall a better movie with iconic scenes and more rewatchable.
