I used to drive an older Chrysler, and while driving it around the U.S. I heard rumors of a guy known only as Mopar Mel, in the small Minnesota town of Fertile. He specialized in parts and restoration of old Chrysler, Plymouth, Imperial, and DeSoto cars. I needed some stuff for my car, so I sought him out.
He had acres-- literally acres-- of rows of old Mopar cars, many stacked atop others. He must have had 1,000 or more cars lined up out there. He rode a tractor out and fished the parts I needed out of some old cars.
While there, I saw the car he was working on: a red, 1958 Plymouth Fury. Christine. He said at least once or twice a year someone would hire him to rebuild and restore a '58 Fury so they could own a Christine. It looked pretty sweet tbh, and now that I'm writing this I kind of want to track down Mel and get a Christine of my own. Though he was charging $20k to build one back in '06, so I don't know what it will cost now. Probably more than I can afford.
