Why do some people say the ghost of the former owner haunted the car? Weren't people killed/injured by the car as it was built? And didn't the brother of the former owner say the car killed the brother's wife and child (or something like that)?
shareI've heard that in the book, the car was born possessed by an evil spirit (ironically a male spirit). It's discussed on an older thread here.
shareThat was from the book, and that aspect of it sucked IMO. I started to read the book when I was 13 or 14 in the late '80s because I loved the movie, and when I got to that foolishness about the ghost of Lebay haunting the car, it ruined the story for me and I stopped reading it. I much prefer the movie where it's just the inexplicably sentient car and Arnie; no ghosts tagging along for the ride.
I did eventually read the entire book about 10 years ago; it wasn't bad but I was still annoyed by the ghosts.
