What is the significance of..........

Showing the date and month throughout the film like it's counting down to something, but never does?

to see how much time has passed. We see Arnie has transformed from a geeky kid to a little bit tougher one and it didn't happen overnight. And we see the progress he makes on rebuilding Christine like the new wipers and fenders and so on. Plus Dennis' injury. It seemed pretty serious, if he was up and around on crutches the next day it would be unrealistic. He had some healing time.

I guess anyway.

good answer- I agree

Agreed.

I always thought that as time went on and Arnie became more infatuated with Christine she actually regenerated herself as well while he was fixing it. Dennis asked him how he fixed the car so quickly and he said plain old fashioned hard work, but I think Christine found another lover and because he loved her too she helped him along with the regeneration process.

"she helped him along with the regeneration process."

I don't think so. If that was the case, Arnie wouldn't have been so upset when his car was totaled by Repperton and company. He didn't know that his car could fix itself until he saw the car fix its air cleaners. Had it been regenerating itself all along while he was restoring it, he would have noticed.

in the book he doesnt really notice although is unsure what parts he really fixed that seem repaired. the car actually gets "younger" when she drives around. it also doesnt magically repair itself after the destruction, but arne pushes her in circles until she can drive again.

sounds right
