Some guy on Youtube under a Christine clip insists he saw this movie in 1982 and that production began on it as early as 1979. I told him it was not released until 1983 and that the Stephen King novel on which the movie is based was not even released until 1983. I realize you can't argue with stupid or crazy but I just wanted to double check in case I was mistaken... He seems adamant about seeing it in 1982.

Producer Richard Kobritz got an early manuscript from King before the book was to even be released. In part due to him producing Salem's Lot 1979 they knew each other from that. My Christine shooting script date is February 16 1983. The dates within are different but one of the last revisions is from 6/9/83.
Kobritz owns the rights to Christine if a remake or reboot gets made it goes by him.
I think they are just confusing the year within the film which was 1978 & early 1979 by the end of it.

I might be wrong on this but I believe production began in late 1982 and filming may have started in early 1983. It was definitely released in 1983 so your friend is simply wrong on that account.
