Was Melanie

rogered by a ghost? I kinda got that impression after her stay in the infamous 112 Ocean Ave house. Of course, the movie was far too tame to come out and specifically state that the ghost pulled a card from the ghost from "The Entity", however, I believe it was at least implied that the ghost had more of an agenda than blowing cold air on her. She was huddled in the corner and freaking out when Tony Roberts came home. When he tried to comfort her, she screamed "Don't touch me!" and ran out of the house.
I'm probably reading too much into this and anyone in their right mind would be freaked out with that experience, but I think something more was going on in there.

Knock it off, Hudson.

I think it's a good explanation. There is reason to believe the evil in the house is horny. It possessed the brother in part II and suddenly he had this lust for his sister. So I do believe the demon likes women and finds anyway it can to have its way with them.

There could be subtext to this in the movie, after all Meg Ryan's character Lisa did say to Susan earlier that "you could have sex with a ghost."

Her reaction when John comes home, the way she screams "Don't you touch me" does seem to point to some sort of sexual violation as opposed to her being bombarded by coldness from the basement.
