Honestly, I think the adults felt the blame could not be placed on a kid who was just doing what he was told to do....After all, the kid admitted earlier in the movie that he would not even be playing if the starting back had not gone down with an injury. For this reason, when you have your reserve TB in the game and it's a freakin downpour, the obvious thing would be to keep the ball in the hands of your trusted QB knowing that even if he gives up safety, they still win.
Unlike you are a major a-hole, most adults will place blame on other adults, because the decision maker naturally bares the responsibility.
