Elke Sommer is NOT in Winds!

I filled out the correction form, saying that Elke Sommer is not in the cast of The Winds of War. This error is bizarre, she's credited as playing Lida Baarova, a real-life Czech actress who worked in the film industry in Nazi Germany. The character doesn't even appear in the film or the book either for that matter. I can't imagine who included her here, but the error even found its way, most absurdly, onto the back of the recent Paramount DVD release of the series. When will studios learn that the IMDB is only as accurate as the people who provide its information and stop taking every fact here as gospel. I suppose one person was not enough to get this error changed, so I ask anybody else who cares about Winds to please go to the corrections page and tell the managers of the site that Elke Sommer is not in The Winds of War.

Actually, yes, Elke Sommers IS in the series. But, as is noted in the trivia section, 170 hours of film was cut out of the finished product. That's right, ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY hours.

Um, have you ever seen the series, do you know who Elke Sommer (no "s" at the end) is? Because she ain't in it. And do you understand how films are made. 170 hrs cut doesn't mean 170 hrs of deleted scenes, it means 170 hrs of footage, but scenes in film are shot multiple times from various angles. that's how you get 170 hrs. Anyway, the error has thankfully been fixed, though all the DVD boxes out there still have her listed, which is just wild, shows the power of the internet I guess.

Even if scenes were deleted people sometimes have to be credited. Bruce Campbell does not appear in The Quick and the Dead, but since he filmed scenes they were required to credit him.

Well, she at least made the cut as Magda Goebbels in Wolper's INSIDE THE THIRD REICH a few years earlier. She did a damn fine job too.

Actually, she made Frau Goebbels a little too appealing.

Occording to Elka she shot Winds over a four day period and it was all cut

her seen were shot at the firt party where the henry met hitler

Interesting to know that there's something behind all this craziness. Still, since she doesn't appear in the show and isn't credited in it, this is just really cool trivia, and not something that belongs in a cast list. Good to see IMDB has long since corrected it.
