Battle Sequences?

Okay, I dont know alot about this or its sequel series
so I want to know two things that I hope someone could help
me answer. Is there any battle sequences in any of the two
or is it just a dialouge based type of drama? Is the German
side portrayed at all and if so, do they speak german?
All in all, is it worth watching?

These two mini-series are fantastic, I love them, but there are not battle sequences like you would see in "Saving Private Ryan" or "Band of Brothers" nor do the German officers speak German exclusively like they do in "Patton" or "The Longest Day." Having said that, though, I like Winds of War and War and Remembrance as much or better than any of them. If you are interested in WWII, I highly recommend these series. They are not totally devoid of action, of course. There's stock war footage with narration here and there to give context, and in The Winds of War we see the lead (Mitchum) go on an air raid over Germany, and in W&R there is some naval action. The actors playing the top German leadership are mostly German actors and they do speak a little German here and there. Do check it out. I own both these series on DVD and watch them about once a year, and haven't gotten bored yet.

Definitely worth watching. You're correct in that neither WoW or WaR are like Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers, but they weren't meant to be. It is the story of people and how the war affects their lives from beginning to end. It provides an entertaining look at some very hard times.
