Does anybody know if this this mini series (and follow-up "War and Remembrance) has ever been released in Europe? As far as I can see this has not been officially released as region 2. Are there plans for release?

Good way to check is to go to the UK or a European Amazon.com site. On the UK site, a seller of used DVD's has a Winds of War region 2 for sale, stating that it is a rare item:

The German amazon.com site has a region 2 as well, for example

Unfortunately, nothing for War and Rememberance found.

My sister, who lives in Europe, has had no problem playing American DVD's. I don't know if she has a region-free player, but she wouldn't even know what a region-free player is.

My copy of War and Rememberance, bought on Amazon.com, is region free and plays on European DVD players.

I recently got hold of W of W from a dutch seller on Amazon.uk. I e-mailed him and asked about W & R on region 2 and he said it would be coming out next spring.

I live in the UK and have had both series for 2 years
