unique war epic, easy to be too critical. spoilers
I am a 49 year old Brit who watched this when it was first on tv 25 years ago.
At the time the British critics were brutal with this drama and there is a lot to be brutal about(awful casting, historical questions and impossible plot details)but I bought the dvd,£15 for 6 discs a bargain, and it is worth watching.
It is not as if there are lots of tv epics covering the whole of World War 11,this series for all its flaws acts as a sort of history lesson/soap opera for people who don't want to read lots of books.
Let us be honest, many people learned about slavery by watching ROOTS and the holocaust by watching HOLOCAUST.
(I have read lots of books on World War 11 by the way but this is a tv series)
This was filmaking on a epic scale,no CGI,lots of extras, lots of old cars and planes
