Early in the first episode(dinner at the captain's table),a german naval officer with three stripes on his arm is introduced as "commodore" grubke.I believe that anyone with the title of commodore would wear more than three stripes. Any thoughts on this?

The uniform may be in error, or it just could be that these "old school" sailors where still using this term for a German naval officer in tactical command of two or more ships, especially submarines. (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kommodore) It is not clear from this article exactly when a German Commodore went from being a title to a rank; perhaps in this early episode Kommodore was still a title, not a rank.
