Barry Morse was a great actor

I just noticed that he passed away a year ago. I sure thought he played a convincing German in both WOW and WAR as Wolf Stoller and Col General Franz Halder respectively. I was shocked that his character in WAR survived the wrath of Hitler after he disagreed with the Fueher about war strategy and was dismissed....you would think Hitler would have had him arrested or killed after that meeting they had in 1942. And as Wolf Stoller that scene where Pug tells him to tell Goering to shove it up his fat ass was great.

Barry Morse did a great job in those two roles. The character he portrayed in WAR, Franz Halder, was on the cover of Time Magazine in 1942 http://www.time.com/time/covers/0,16641,19420629,00.html. In WOW, the scene you mention is a memorable one.

Morse portrayed the detective tracking down David Janssen in "The Fugitive." I remember Morse commenting that for some time, wherever he went, for example checking in to a hotel, people would say to him, oh, Lt., you just missed him!

In William Shirer's "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich", Shirer credits much of his texts in the early war years to Halder, who kept a minute by minute diary of his contact with Hitler. Shirer even exchange numerous letters answer questions and sharing experiences.

I like Morse as Wolf Stoller, but I loved him as Halder.

I am still pissed (after 35 years!!) that his character was kicked off of Space:1999 without so much as an explanation - all of a sudden in season 2, Victor's gone!
...Season 2 mostly sucked.
