I'm about 5 hours in. Is it just me or is Natalie begging to be punched in the face!! Was she portrayed as a spoiled 12 year old in the novel?

In the book Natalie and Byron are both shallow and self-centered.
I thought they deserved each other.
Leslie Slote was so lucky to have been turned down.
