Harry Hopkins actor(s)

funny...I've watched this a million times and just now noticed they switched Harry Hopkins actors in mid-show.
Roy Poole until the train ride with the Prez....then in War and Rememberance...Poole is back.
Anyone know the answer? sounds like a medical thing with poole...or...a contractual committment of some sort.

reply

I'll have to be on notice for this next time I watch it. Didn't catch my eye the times I've watched it before.

reply

don't feel bad about that. I've got the dvd since it came out and have watched it about once a year or so and didn't catch it until this time viewing. also...Roy Poole who was so good as Hopkinb appears to be the only actor getting credit in the cast lineup. I think this would violate union regs as anyone with a speaking part gets credited & this was several appearances before they go back to Poole. well...good trivia question anyway.

ok...just went on the War & Rememberance cast list and realized I have been wrong about actor Roy Poole. he seems to be the short term replacement in the middle of Winds of War beginning with the scene where FDR and Pug are getting on the train. then he is in the scenes where FDR and Churchill meet on the high seas. then...gone forever (I think)
The Harry Hopkins actor IS William Schallert...very will konwn and believe it or not...STILL working (born 1922!) wow. He's listed on a flick for 2011. been working a LONG, LONG TIME

reply

Schallert, probably best remembered from "The Patty Duke Show" in the 1960s, died on May 8, 2016 at the age of 93.
