Remember Blair Tefkin as Robin Maxwell?
She was funny (and HOT) and by funny I am referring to the early scenes when she is crushing on the Visitor Youth Leader Bryan. Her performance is a bit like a time capsule. 1983 Valley Girl. Actually quite brilliant writing and acting. Remember when Bryan approaches her on the front lawn (she is talking on a cordless phone in the evening, a CORDLESS PHONE was a big deal in the early 80s), and he says "Sorry, I'm a little nervous" and she says "Hah! YOU are. Wait, you are?" Brilliant.
Her role as the virginal but sexually budding teenaged girl who is seeking to break-out from her father's rule and experience the world, depsite the world chaos going on around her, and with devastating consequences, is the perfect build-up to the progression of the plot. (But then in the end it turns out to not be devastating, it turns out to be life saving when you factor in what results from her union with Bryan - but of course that's not until the sequel). Also, later when they come face to face again and she is so consumed with rage for how he treated her, she is able to exact her revenge while testing the red dust. She really was a central character to how things played out.
Anyway, always wanted Tefkin to keep acting. I think she had great skills. Even in Fast Times At Ridgemont High, where she had all of three lines, she made me laugh. "I'm not going to a morgue for science class! I'll get my mom to write a note!" I later saw her in a sitcom where her every line was delivered with great timing.
