Series Vs Mini Series

I want to watch this show, i heard it was great, and i am wondering what should be best, watching the original mini-series and than maybe watching the final battle, or should i just watch whole 19-episode series? Is it worth it?

The whole set is liniar. One follows into the next and picks up shortly after where the previous one ended.
Original mini-series - Final Battle - TV series.

I think it's worth it, the two mini-series stories (two-part original V and three-part Final Battle) are pretty incredible for early 80s special effects, they really feel like they were shot with theatrical big budgets from that time. The 19 episode season is obviously of lesser quality, but it does represent a rarity of TV back in the day for providing a very serialized and mature story, picking back up on a surprising amount of characters from the mini-series works and not being afraid to kill some off. Sure the series finale does end on a big cliffhanger for two main characters, but the overall story of that last ep does leave a sorta sense that we don't really need anything more for the ones we came to love and just exactly how Earth will do in the future.

Watch in order of how the DVDs present the stories:
Original V (Two-part mini-series)
V: The Final Battle (Three-part mini-series)
V: The Complete Series (19 episodes)

The TV series that followed had some good episodes and very dramatic, shocking moments. But they soon ran out of ideas too quickly and it became a mess. The final episode showed signs of hope but alas, we never knew what happened.

Though I heard it was continued and concluded in the form of a comic book!
