v the second generation

Everyone of course has their own opionion...I myself am glad if only because I didn't really care for the Second Generation.

I didn't have any problems with V the Final Battle (at airtime) though looking back the star child ending is a bit hokey...much preferring how the scene was written in the novelization. As a whole though I think it meshed fairly well with the original miniseries.

The Second Generation changed quite a bit of things. I went into it knowing that The Final Battle was ignored and in this light the lack of certain characters wasn't explained very well, as was the ludicrous change of the leader's gender just to add a lesbian subplot??!! The original miniseries CLEARLY referred to the leader as MALE.

There were additional problems I had with it but off the top of my head without a more recent reread I don't recall all of them. Two other things that come to mind was the second alien species (the enemy of the visitors) their human appearance didn't make much sense (at least with the visitors it is a bit likely with their human coverings) not to mention the ending with them was sort of a deux ex machina just as the star child was in the Final Battle...
