Why did a ship go to London?

If they came to take humans and water why place a ship over London? I think they had about 20-30 ships in total so surely there were more practical places to base a ship.

Unless they did it simply for political reasons.

What kind of a question is this ? Maybe it was because London is one of the major cities in the world.......

Victims...........arent we all.

reply

Yes it is.

But if you happen to be comming to the planet to take the humans away and take the water London or even anywhere in the UK is not a prime location.

reply

Well if you remember in the original "V" series they were also storing food aswell. So, maybe they were hoping to harvest the entire human race aswell as the water therefore starting with every major city on the planet ......
And i think you will find that London is or would be a prime location...Why would you think London wouldn't be a prime location ?

Victims...........arent we all.

And psychological.

Population numbers aside, people know the name "London". Seeing a big alien ship there, along with other major cities, only adds to the feeling of claustrophobia.

Prime or not, these ships were designed to be mobile and to store great quantities of food. Compared to outer space, a ship over London that would be redirected to, say, Hong Kong, would be a walk from the fridge to the stove to them.

A missed opportunity might have been an episode of another ship still in transit from the home planet and discussing the wait time involved to get to Earth, then finding means to get the audience to hate the aggressors even more...

During the visitor's arrival Daniel Berstein turns to the tv and says, 'look, t's London'. It was also stated clearly on more than one occasion that 50 ships arrived... FYI

London is a Capital City and one of the bigger cities on the planet. It would fit their world wide lie of for them to park a Mother Ship there. That lie being establishing relationships with world leaders to get their support/permission to manufacture a (fake) chemical in order to save their home planet.

I HATE the phrase "torture porn". What happened to good old fashion "SNUFF FILM"?

reply

Why would they go to London!?

Phftt... to see the bridge. (duh)

reply

Why not? What do you have against London? Don't like Big Ben?

reply

i live in london. it is one of the major capital cities in the world with a high population. there is also a ready made water source (the river thames) running through it. it is ideal.

reply

Maybe it's because he's a Londoner...
I'll get me coat.

There are 9 million humans there and a very big river. Everything they wanted.

What a pity the Doctor didn't turn up to save the UK haha?

Actually I wonder how he would deal with the visitors?

reply

Speaking of Dr. Who, wonder how the Daleks would get along their competitors? ;)

I imagine the mother ship went to London for the same reason most of us tourists like to go....friendly people, great sites, and a chance to perhaps see the Royal family :)

reply

Which leads me to a funny thought.

What if the royals were actually shape changing lizards.....It'd be like visiting the rellatives?

reply

There were 50 of these ships and well it wasnt just fresh water they were after, and an Island nation is surrounded by water :P

They were here for all of us, every living thing and all of the planet's water. London is as good as any place if you ask me.

reply

Yeah...they heard England had a Queen lizzy...got confused and thought she was a queen lizard......well it makes as much sense as any other theory here.

reply

Do you think the London-based Visitors had bad teeth, a la Austin Powers, so they'd fit in?

reply

This film does have similarities with 'The Dalek Invasion Of Earth',and there must of been resistance groups in London or the UK,not just Los Angeles!
